LEO A DALY selected as City of Bloomington Veterans Memorial designer.

The LEO A DALY design concept was selected as the winner of the design competition hosted by the City of Bloomington and will serve as the designer for this new memorial to Veterans.

LEO A DALY has been selected by design competition to serve as designer of the City of Bloomington, Minnesota Veterans Memorial in partnership with Bloomington Remembers Veterans, Inc, a 501c3 non-profit. The memorial is funded through private donations. It will be located on the Civic Green portion of the Bloomington Civic Plaza site. The international planning, architecture, engineering and interiors firm will partner with long-time collaborator and landscape architecture firm Damon Farber to develop the memorial design.

“We are elated to have been selected to design the veterans memorial. We look forward to creating a space that honors those who serve and show gratitude for the immense sacrifice and commitment of all veterans who have served us,” said Cindy McCleary, vice president and managing principal of LEO A DALY’s Minneapolis studio.

The winning design concept showcases the journey veterans and their families travel as well as the sacrifices made during the course of their service. This physical representation of the journey will serve as a conversation starter between visitors, prompting the exchange of stories and experiences. This approach provides a place of remembrance and reflection for veterans as well as a source of education and engagement for those seeking to honor these heroes.

Designed to serve individuals and small groups on a daily basis, the memorial also expands to serve as a host for larger events and ceremonies. An interactive component will provide visitors with stories of individuals and their experiences as an ongoing and ever-changing tribute.
